2nd Congregational

The Second Congregational Church is part of the United Church of Christ (UCC) and also part of the Vermont Conference of the UCC. The United Church of Christ was formed in 1957 upon the merger of the Evangelical and Reformed Churches with the Congregational Christian Churches. This church, Second Congregational, traces its history to the Congregational branch of UCC history. It was gathered in 1868. The Methodists built the church building itself in 1840. There is no ‘First Congregational’ anymore, although there was. The ‘First Congregational Church’ was on Parson’s Lane in South Londonderry. That Church (First) disbanded before this Church (Second) was gathered in 1868. The “First” was fresh enough in everyone’s mind; however, that “Second” was necessary in this Church’s name!

We are located in the center of Londonderry right on Route 11. The Neighbor’s Pantry and Thrifty Attic share the Peck House, which the church also owns (the former Methodist parsonage) on the other side of the church parking lot. We invite you to come and worship with us!

Sunday worship: 9:30 AM

Choir: The Choir warms up each Sunday morning at 8:30 AM, rehearsal most Sunday mornings after worship, 10:50-12:00 Noon.

Sunday School:
Sunday School is for children ages 4 through 6th grade during the school year. In the summer childcare is provided for the same ages. Our Sunday School is a multi-age classroom experience. Both Sunday School and Childcare run concurrent with worship.

Living Strong:
Twice a week there is an exercise class similar to "bone builders" open to all members of the community.

Prayer Shawl Ministry:
A new ministry for us, many hands are busy knitting (or crocheting) prayer shawls. These shawls are given to those who are in need of a tangible sign of our love and prayers, whether they are ill, or healing, perhaps grieving, etc.

Neighbor’s Pantry:
On the third Friday of each month we have a food distribution between 1:00 and 4:00 PM. The Neighbor’s Pantry is open to all who could benefit from some assistance.

Senior Lunches:
There is a Senior Lunch at the church May - November on the last Thursday of each month.

A Swedish singing group, Nordic Harmoni
also meets at the church.

The Floodbrook Athletic Association also meets at the church.
